An apple a day keeps the doctor away. But it doesn’t make the injury go away! The verdict is that I sprained the ligament on the inside of my left knee. Fun times! The grinding in my knee cap is due to how the swelling is pushing knee. So now I sit with my leg propped up under my desk with an ice pack.
The Good News: It isn’t terribly serious and will heal in 4-6 weeks.
The Bad News: I was supposed to run a half marathon in 6 weeks.
I’m supposed to ice, elevate, take anti-inflammatory meds and not run. The Dr did say that I could ride a bike in a week, but to start with only 5 minutes and not push for 30 minutes (he know me too well). I love my doctor… He takes his time and is thorough. I always feel that he hears me. He even told me that he knows that I don’t go in for just anything, so it must be significant.
I’m sad about the half marathon. I’m debating whether to try to go for it with very little training or not go for it at all. I’m going to be strict in taking care of my knee and see where I’m at I guess.
Maybe I could go for a PR in slowest marathon time?
